Own a sewing machine but don't have a clue how to use it? Us too! So we've invited Regan from A Bit Stitchy in Elmira to help us out! This is the perfect sewing course for you if you are a complete beginner wishing to have a thorough introduction to using a sewing machine, learn different sewing techniques, understand basic sewing patterns and learn basic cutting skills. You will be taken through the very basics of setting up and threading a sewing machine to make a simple 2-pattern & lined shopping tote to show off your newly acquired sewing skills by the end of it! You can choose to use one of our machines (3 available for rent - additional $10) or, we prefer you bring your own if you’d like to learn to use it. Come along, be part of a lovely small group with plenty of individual attention from the teacher, learn to sew, chat and make friends. The tea and biscuits are on us! WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: How to cut and pin fabric using a simple pattern How to thread the machine and wind a bobbin How to sew straight seams and how to finish them How to make box corners, handles, and how to apply interfacing to stabilize your fabric. How to finish a basic tote bag And much much more! ***IMPORTANT*** YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BRING YOUR OWN SUPPLIES and SEWING MACHINE (if not renting) Supplies Required Quilt weight cotton or any home décor weight fabric like duck or canvas 1\2 yard of main outer fabric or 2 fat quarters 1\2 yard accent fabric or 2 fat quarters 1\2 yard of lining fabric or 2 fat quarters 1\2 yard of medium or lightweight fusible interfacing (if you want a more structured bag ) Coordinating thread, scissors, straight pins, extra machine needles in case you break one!
