BEHIND reFIND
The concept for reFIND Salvage started when my husband & I moved from a modern condo in a large city to an old century home in the historic town of Fergus, ON. None of our modern decor worked in our old rustic home, and to be honest, most of the particle board/MDF/veneer/laminate furniture didn’t survive the move! We wanted to create a home style that fit with our creaking wood floors and stained glass windows that would reflect our style and last for years to come.
reFIND DEFINED
reFIND Salvage is a home furnishings & décor store featuring REstored, REpurposed, REstyled and REfound furniture and accessories. Whether you’re eco-conscious or just have a great sense of personal style, you will find something awesome and affordable for your home in our store. All products are handmade, using materials sourced from local antique markets, thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales, architectural salvage shops, local REstores and sometimes – even curbside and dumpster finds! reFIND Salvage’s décor maximizes your personal style, decreases your global footprint and fits your budget.
We began searching for secondhand furniture – visiting local antique shops, flea markets and thrift stores regularly. We discovered that with a bit of creativity and a little DIY, we could give these old, tired and ‘destined for the trash’ items a whole new life.
Sometimes we struggled to find exactly what we were looking for, so by using the old ‘think outside the box’ attitude, we quickly realized that an old drafting table made a great kitchen island, or an antique washstand and recycled vessel sink made a perfect powder room vanity. And so began a mild ‘obsession’ for UPcycling – the process of converting old or discarded materials into something useful and beautiful.
reFIND is KIND
At reFIND Salvage, we use the 4-RE’s regularly: RESTORE. REPURPOSE. RESTYLE. REFIND. Think of it as 'waste prevention'. We take waste materials and create something new and useful out of it. Our enthusiasm comes from taking an item that appeared valueless and giving it a renewed purpose. reFIND is fascinated by simple design that conveys such an immense message against our throw-away society.
